About Us

The Eclipse Knights was founded on the idea of "Bringing People Together"

In June of 2000 an American Aspiring Artist, Matt Maeda, was a resident of Hawaii who decided on going out into the Online world to find out why geeks were always not accepted for enjoying Art, Culinary, Science, Journalism, Reading, Library Science, Math, as well as many other interests... He knew Geeks were often times socially neglected, socially abused, and physically abused. Being called or labeled a Geek himself he decided to take a stand to research why people were disliked for enjoying their individual interests. After researching by interviewing many people and reading many books he decided that to have a voice in making a change you needed a group of people to spread an idea. Matt returned to his room where he worked on conceptual and prospective ideas for the future of possible Urban Culture Developement. He labeled his project "Interests Kingdom" and created a team called "The Eclipse Knights" in the following years he would fill books among books of drawings, research, and possibilities for many groups of prospective Urban Cultures.

Here at Eclipse Knights, we are motivated in bringing people together with the developement of Urban Culture that lets people express themselves. Much of our inspiration comes from a variety of international media and records including History, Music, Dance, Culinary, Movies, Poems, Fashion, Architecture, Books, Video Games... and every other possible thing you could ever imagine. Much of our inspiration is on building what we believe will bring more people together and show their similarities with helping them still express their individuality.

We are now on track to printing its first Tee Shirts this November, 2010. One step forward to letting people immerse themselves in what they love ,bringing them all together, and doing something.

Why Urban Culture?

Ever since the internet has come into our lives people have been able to share ideas, create them, spread them, and be inspired by them. We began thinking that if we make it, and they will come...then we tell people we are relative, tell them to buy it, and they will...  then the internet bonded people together, and told them buy into it if you want.

  • People are waiting for something to Fight for, Someone to lead them, Tell them its okay to like what they like. Many people stop liking an interest because it isn't socially acceptable. If they do stick with their interest it can cause depression, suicidal tendencies, and make people feel as if there is nobody else in the world.
  • Bringing people together in Urban Cultures helps people feel like they are somewhere they are needed, wanted, a place where they feel they belong. Urban Cultures are tribes which assemble people who have a want but feel disconnected from the mass. A few will truly believe in the idea and feel its important to them and begin to lead another group which will then assemble, and the process repeats, eventually turning into a movement. The idea becomes something bigger than it ever started as.
  • Many times people need a story, bonding, and leadership before they can give themself permission to try something new. If they don't, thats great and they have alot of willpower, passion, and know exactly where they are going. This is an important opportunity to bring people together for something bigger than themselves, and a place they can realize their full potential.

Urban Culture is Everywhere

Rock, Punk, Rave, Goth, Disco, and Hip Hop have paved the road for what we know as Urban Cultures. These are based on interests which are modern day Villages. Urban Culture are like our modern day Kingdoms which hold multiple interests.

The life span of a Urban Culture is based on how much identity, meaning, and stories which are apart of it. This means they can be as long as short as a month or as long as people keep believing.
