Akibakei Fashion

Akibakei Fashion is a clothing style worn by people who are interested in Akibakei Urban Culture. Its Techie, Geeky, Academic style of dress. A few borrowed predominate elements are from the Sciences, Post-Grunge and Grunge, 90's Geek Chic, Post-War and War-time styles of dress.

The usual Akibakei fashion includes natural hair colors, many colors are from tones found in early 8-bit games such as Pac Man and muted variations. It sometimes is referred to as a Geek Chic. Thick framed glasses complete the look.

There are different speciallized styles within Akibakei dress, such as Pointdexterian and Mad Scientistian.

 

Origin

Akibakei fashion has its origins in Japan, however it is not concrete as who originated the term. Geek Chic which is American Akibakei fashion also has no consensus as to who originated the term. It is assumed that both were created by hard core geeks.

 

Influences

The main two influences which had made Akibakei fashion what it is today is American Geek Chic and Akihabara Fashion styles merging.

Inspiration comes from scientific, and/or sci-fi, and/or super hero novels, games, comics, and is inspired by various futuristic time periods. Such examples could be Computers, Mad Scientists, Comic Geeks, Gamers, Fan-Boys/Girls imagery. The creation of the style was inspired by a mixture of fashion from America, Japan, and Germany.

Games, books, shows, and manga played a roll in the influence of the style. Titles such as Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Revenge of the Nerds, Back to the Future, Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy , Akihabara@Deep, Densha Otoko, Tron, Gundam, Evangelion, Stargate and Ghost Busters.
