Rinascimento Fashion

Rinascimento Fashion is a clothing style worn by people who are interested in Rinascimento Urban Culture. Its Nature, Intelligente, and Layered style of dress. A few borrowed predominate elements are from the Otakus, Medieval, and Renaissance.

The usual Rinascimento fashion includes dyed blond or brunette hair, earthy colors of lips and earthy tones in the clothes. It sometimes is referred to as a Neo-Medieval look. Thin framed glasses complete the look.

There are different speciallized styles within Rinascimento dress, such as Librarian, Bucc, Mage, and Knight.

Origin

The term was coined by Matt Maeda who was trying to find a term of describing fashion found in the video game Soul Calibur by (1999, Namco), Final Fantasy 4 by (1997, Square), and Chrono Cross by (1999, Square) during a blog in 2000. The games had each taken place during a fictional setting of Magic, Myth, and Legend during a 16th-17th century Medieval period feel and Fantasy flair.

Influences

There are a number of things which effected the creation of what is seen as rinascimento fashion.

Inspiration comes from fantasy novels inspired by the time periods of 1100-1700 and merged time periods of modern day. Such examples could be Middle Ages, Pirates, Library, and Renaissance imagery. The creation of the style was inspired by a mixture of fashion from Italy, Japan, and America.

Games, books, and manga played a roll in the influence of the style. Titles such as Final Fantasy, Chrono Cross, Soul Calibur, Lord of the Rings ,Read or Die, Harry Potter, Dungeons & Dragons, Pirates of the Carribean, World of Warcraft, and Guild Wars each contributed to the idea of fantasy fashion.

Fashion Icons

Orlando Bloom's roles as William Turner in Pirates of the Carribean 2003-2007 , Legolas in Lord of the Rings 2001-2003, and Balian in Kingdom of Heaven 2005 had made him a role model for his parts in such movies. The modern day knight would be known for his naturally wavy and slightly curly chestnut colored hair.

Loreena Mckennit singer and songwriter, Daniel Radcliffe from Harry Potter film series, Keira Knightly's role as Elizabeth Swan in Pirates of the Carribean are also seen as various style icons.

Criticism

Those who had seen Rinascimento fashion use old fashion trends from the past have deemed it in the wrong time period. They say that it makes people look like characters out of a novel or videogame and stick out like sore thumbs.

The Librarian fashion was criticized that people had to dress as professional or smart with glasses to feel like they have some brains when they may or may not know what they are talking about.

Its common to see earth colors and muted tones. Some of these colors consist of Navy, Black, Ivory, Lavender, Khaki, Camel, Beige, Crimsoon, Forest Green, Muted Yellow. Rinascimento stays away from tropical colors like lime green, magenta, fuchsia, and neons.

Body Piercing

It is seen as unclean to pierce anywhere other then the ear lobe in Rinascimento. It is a common sight to see a person with one piercing in the right and left lobe or two in each.

Tatoos

Tatoos are seen as marks of tainted skin. It isn't well recieved by others when someone in the Rinascimento community flaunts off let alone even has ink filled skin.
