During 1965, British Fashion Designer Mary Quant invents the Mini Skirt. It was seen as practical, as well as rebellious to conservative society at the time. The mini skirt was named from Mary Quants favorite car the mini. People saw the miniskirt as liberating and against the norm, the "Womens Liberation movement" had gotten off the ground and there was no better way to show you were woman and proud of it. The miniskirt became all the rage and quickly became an icon of the 1960's.

 

Frank Lloyd Wright


American Interior Designer Frank Lloyd Wright is seen as the Father of Mid-Century Modern, however the term was coined by Cara Greenberg who named her book Mid-Century Modern: Furnature of the 1950's. The designs were based on organic architecture and the bauhaus movement.
